Barbara Niles has been doing theatre professionally since she was 16 years old and has performed in over 150 musicals and plays. Originally from NY, she starred on Broadway as Mary Magdalene in first revival of Jesus Christ Superstar,Oy Mama Am I in Love, a play in Yiddish learning the language phonetically, Brainchild, Michelle LeGrande’s first Broadway musical collaborating with the late Hal David and she stood by for Millicent Martin in Noel-the story of Gertrude Lawrence and Noel Coward. Some of her favorite Off -Broadway shows include Grown-Ups, Dime Store Diamonds (Manhattan Theatre Club), Berlin to Broadway, and Amanda in Private Lives. National tours and regional theatre includes Ado Annie in Oklahoma, Godspell, Tintypes, Feiffer’s People, Starting Here Starting Now, Grusha in Causcasion Chalk Circle (she is a huge Bertolt Brecht fan), Molly in The Unsinkable Molly Brown and Sheila in A Day in the Death of Joe Egg (a favorite) to name a few. When she came to LA she continued to do theatre-Labor Pains, The Actors Nightmare, where she met her husband. Reaching Up, Six Women in Search of Brain Death and Broads at the EL Portal Theatre directed by Jules Aaron. But when she moved to LA she also discovered doing voiceover- everything from commercials to animated characters to directing, coaching and producing VO demos. She thanks her husband for always encouraging her to sing in the car while on long car trips.
